Welcome to Wimbledon Symphony Orchestra’s 2008 - 2009 season

This year our first two concerts were in our ‘home’ venue of St Matthew’s Church, Raynes Park.  We returned to St Paul’s Wimbledon in March 2009 for our charity  concert  supporting We are Macmillan.  WSO were delighted to welcome back Jennifer Pike.  Her account of the Sibelius Violin Concerto was breathtaking and her encore of unaccompanied Bach was deeply moving.   The  concert was sold out and a huge success.

For our last concert of the season we are collarorating with Coro in a concert at the Cadogan Hall on Sunday 28th June 2009.  The concerts opens with Fauré’s Suite Pelléas et Mélisande, and his Cantique de Jean Racine.  The highlight of the concert is a performance of Haydn’s Harmoniemesse as our own celebration of the 250th anniversary of the composer’s death.  The award-winning Coro London Chamber Choir, under their Director Mark Griffiths will also sing ‘a capella’ music from across the centuries.

Note that the concert begins at the earlier starting time of 6.00pm.  Follow the ‘Concerts’ link on the left for more information about  this concert at the Cadogan Hall, London SW1.
